WHAT IS VAGABOND RAG?

/ˈvaɡəˌbänd-raɡ/

noun

  1. A journal of a mad woman on a mission to experience.

  2.  An outlet for research found during a search for purpose.

Have you ever thought to yourself, what the fuck am I doing with my life?  Like so many others, I spent a good portion of my 20s constantly trying to plan everything. Making sure my life lived up to a certain standard and was moving in a particular direction. Then one day, like a switch, I started asking why. Why am I doing this? What is this for? Am I happy? I didn't have an answer, so I decided to go in search of one..

These are my discoveries.

WHO IS ROSEANNE?

Roseanne the Van

HOME - OFFICE - TRANSPORTER - TEACHER

The first 20 years of my life were spent sitting still in a backyard. It was a lonely and all around uneventful time. Then one cold Canadian day, I was adopted by a young couple who wanted me to assist in their North American exploration. I was scared to leave the safety of my space under the tree, but I didn't have a choice.

They named me Doug and showed me places I'd only dreamt about going during my early days at the manufactures. I was truly living the dream. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. Although I was sad at first to see my owners return to New Zealand, I couldn't wait for a fresh start.

It took a few weeks, but I found her. I don't want to say it was love at first site, because she looked basic. But she figured out the parking brake trick right away, so I knew we'd get along just fine.

Since gaining my American citizenship in October 2015, I started living my life as Roseanne. I've traveled over 42,000 miles and haven't looked back yet.  Just because you're born a van, doesn't mean you can't be fabulous.

Raised in small town Minnesota, my passion for photography and film moved me to sunny California where I received my Bachelors of Art in Professional Photography at Brooks Institute, Santa Barbara, CA.

After graduation I relocated to Los Angeles where I quickly learned the ins and outs of being a go-to creative in a competitive industry. But after a decade of chasing the city life, I knew I wanted more. More adventures, more sunrises, more dancing, more bonfires, more lessons, more experiences. So, with my camera in hand, I decided to become a full-time traveler / nomad / vanlifer.

Today you can find me cruising through the unknown corners of this country, constantly seeking the next adventure, while living in my van, Roseanne.
